Born in 1977 in Loul Sessene, Senegal. Lives and works in Geneva, Switzerland.
Omar Ba is a young Senegalese painter who has been living in Geneva since
2003. After having studied for his art degree at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts
in Dakar, he completed an MA at the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Geneva and a Master in Sierre.
Omar Ba’s paintings present a colorful, fantastic, at times chaotic world where the
order of things as we perceive them in the visible world is turned on its head. His highly imaginative personal imagery fuses personal metaphors and ancestral symbols that reflect the animist belief that all plant, animal and human life has a soul. His symbolism builds a narrative around political themes critical of the power systems that exist in Africa. Omar Ba is represented among others by Anne de Villepoix Gallery, Paris and by Galerie Guy Bärtschi, Geneva, Giuseppe Perro Milano and Hales Gallery London.

Omar Ba é um jovem pintor senegalês que vive em Genebra desde 2003. Depois de cursar bacharelado em artes na École Nationale des Beaux Arts, em Dakar, Ba completou ummestrado na École Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Genebra e um mestrado em Sierre.

As pinturas de Omar Ba apresentam um mundo colorido, fantástico e às vezes caótico, em que a ordem das coisas tal como a percebemos no mundo visível é virada decabeça para baixo. Suas imagens muito imaginativas e pessoais fundem metáforas íntimase símbolos ancestrais, fletindo a crença animista segundo a qual toda forma de vida vegetal,animal e humana possui uma alma. Seu simbolismo constrói uma narrativa em torno de temaspolíticos, criticando os sistemas de poder existentes na África. Omar Ba é representado pela galeria Anne de Villepoix, em Paris, pela Galerie Guy Bärtschi, Genebra, Giuseppe Perro,Milão e Hales Gallery, em Londres.
