ART for The World, a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) associated with the United Nations Department of Public Information, was founded in Geneva in 1996. Its mission is to create a meaningful and lasting dialogue between peoples, cultures and worldviews through the universal language of art and cinema. It also aims to foster education and art as universal values. The most recent ART for The World project is the ongoing large international traveling show Food, Reflections on Mother Earth, Agriculture and Nutrition in Geneva at Musée Ariana, Geneva (2012-2013), at SESC Pinheiros, Sao Paulo (Feb. - May, 2014) and at the MuCEM, Marseille (Oct. 2014 - Feb. 2015).
ART for The World (AFTW), since its foundation has constantly promoted work by African artists and filmmakers. It has successfully organized a number of large group shows including the 1995 ‘Dialogues of Peace’, for the 50th anniversary of the United Nations at its Geneva Headquarters. The show displayed the work of reknown African artists including George Adeagbo, Benin; Akpan, Nigeria; Farid Belkhaia, Morocco; Bethé Selassié, Ethiopia; Bruly-Bouabré, Côte d’Ivoire; Adan Henein, Egypt; Kingelez, Tanzania; and Ousman Sow, Senegal.
Other ATFW exhibitions were the 1997 ‘Meditations’, held in the Medersa Ibn Yussef, Marrakech, with Farid Belkhaia, Morocco; El Sy, Senegal; Kacimi, Algeria; Rachid Kohrachi, Tunisia and the poets Adonis, Ahmed Hegqzi and Abdelwahab Meddeb. In 1998, the show ‘The Edge of Awareness’, travelled to Geneva, PS1 New York, SESC Pompeia, Sao Paulo, Lalitkala Akademi, New Delhi, and the Triennale of Milan. This show featured Willie Bester, South Africa; Toumani Ennarde, Morocco; Salem Mekouria, Ethiopia and Olu Ogibe, Nigeria. In 2000, ‘The Silience, The Rwanda Project, 1994-2000’ by Alfredo Jaar was displayed at the Red Cross Museum, Geneva.
In 2008, ‘Stories of Human Rights’, consisted of 22 short fiction films produced for the 60th Anniversary of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, which included ‘The Mango’ by Idrissa Oudraogo, Burkina Faso and ‘Dignity’ by Abdelrahman Sissako, Maurtania. In 2011, ‘Then and Now, Beyond Borders and Differences’ saw the production of seven short films under the patronage of Alliance of the Civilisation and Council of Europe and featured ‘The Cameleon’ by Idirssa Oudraogo, Burkina Faso. In 2011, ‘The Mediterranean Approach’, was presented at the Venice Biennale , and travelled in 2012 to Museum of Contemporary Art in Marseille and the SESC Pinheiros Cultural Centre in Sao Paulo. The works of Faousi Bensaidi, Morocco; Zineb Sedira, Algeria and Ghada Amer, Egypt were part of the exhibition.

ART for The World, fondée à Genève en 1996, est une Organisation Non Gouvernementale (ONG), associée au Département Public de l'Information des Nations Unies. Sa mission est de créer, à travers le langage universel de l'art et du cinéma, un dialogue constructif et durable entre les peuples, les cultures et les visions du monde, et de favoriser l'éducation et l'art comme des valeurs universelles.
Son plus récent projet est l’exposition internationale itinérante, Food :Terre Nourricière, agriculture et alimentation, qui après avoir été montrée en avant-première au Musée Ariana, Genève (2012-2013) en 2014 sera présentée au Brésil, au SESC Pinheiros, São Paulo (fév.-mai 2014) et en France, au MuCEM, Marseille (oct. 2014 – fév 2015).
Depuis sa création, ART for The World a constamment promu le travail des artistes et réalisateurs africains. AFTW a organisé avec succès un grand nombre d’expositions collectives notamment «Dialogue of Peace» en 1995, pour le cinquantième anniversaire de l’ONU à Genève. Cette exposition présenta le travail d’artistes africains de renom comme le Béninois Georges Adeagbo, le Nigérian Akpan, le Marocain Farid Belkhaia, l’Éthiopien Bethé Selassié, l’Ivoirien Bruly-Bouabré, l’Égyptien Adan Henein, le Tanzanien Kingelez et le Sénégalais Ousman Sow.
AFTW a également organisé en 1997 à la Madrasa Ibn Yussef de Marrakech , l’exposition «Meditation» dont la sélection d’artistes incluait entre autres Farid Belkhaia (Maroc), El Sy (Sénégal), Kacimi (Algérie), Rachid Kohrachi (Tunisie) et les poètes Adonis, Ahmed Hegqzi et Abdelwahab Meddeb. En 1998, l’exposition «The Edge of Awareness», fut présentée à Genève, au PS1 de New York, à la SESC Pompeia, à São Paulo, à la Lalitkala de New Delhi et à la Triennale de Milan. À cette occasion y furent présentées les œuvres de Willie Bester (Afrique du Sud), Toumani Ennarde (Maroc), Salem Mekouria (Éthiopie) et Olu Ogibe (Nigeria). En 2011 et avec le soutien de l’Alliance de la Civilisation et le Conseil de l’Europe, «Then and Now, Beyond Borders and Differences» initia la production de sept courts-métrages dont le film «The Cameleon» du Burkinabé Idirssa Oudraogo. Em 2000, “The Silence, The Rwanda Project, 1994-2000” (O Silêncio, o Projeto Ruanda, 1994-2000), por Alfredo Jaar, foi mostrado no Museu da Cruz Vermelha em Genebra.
Em 2008, “Stories of Human Rights” (Histórias de Direitos Humanos) consistiu de 22 curta-metragens de ficção produzidos para o 60º Aniversário do Alto Comissariado para Direitos Humanos das Nações Unidas, que incluiu “The Mango” (A Manga) por Idrissa Oudraogo de Burkina Faso e “Dignity” (Dignidade) por Abdelrahman Sissako da Mauritânia. Em 2011, “Then and Now, Beyond Borders and Differences” (Então e Agora, Além de Fronteiras e Diferenças) viu a produção de sete curtas-metragens com o patrocínio da Aliança da Civilização e Conselho da Europa e apresentou “The Cameleon” (O Camaleão) por Idirssa Oudraogo de Burkina Faso. Em 2011, “The Mediterranean Approach” (A Abordagem Mediterrânea) foi apresentado na Bienal de Veneza e, em 2012, viajou para o Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Marselha e o SESC Pinheiros em São Paulo. As obras de Faousi Bensaidi, Marrocos; Zineb Sedira, Argélia e Ghada Amer, Egito, participaram da exposição.
